The purpose of this is to offer some interesting companion services to the Harappa Ancestry Project.
The first is a listing of various South Asian tribes/clans/surnames and associated haplogroups, organized by Y-DNA (since most South Asian cultures follow patrilineal descent) but also listing mtDNA. I encourage all South Asians who know their ancestral background (surname, tribe, clan, gotra, etc) to participate by e-mailing me their info and I will add it to the list. Please also provide your 23andMe or FTDNA ID for verification (and HAP ID if you’re a participant). I will not include anything that isn’t a part of your public profile on those sites or no identifying account information at all if you’d prefer.
The second is a spatial map of all HAP participants according to their admixture (plotted using the geographical coordinates of the HAP components). It is not meant to have any absolute geographical value, as you can see by the number of people plotted in the ocean. It’s only interesting in relative distance/location between plotted individuals. I tried plotting other calculators and they had better geographical relevance and ethnic clustering but of course nothing can beat HAP’s nearly 400 individuals so I stuck with that.
The third is a collection of results of South Asian individuals in various admixture calculators (Eurogenes K36, K13, K12b, EUTest original & V2 K15, Dodecad V3, DIY Harappa). In order to submit your results, please upload your raw data to GEDmatch and then e-mail me your gedmatch kit # and I’ll add the data from the relevant calculators. Please be sure to mention your HAP ID if you have one. (EDIT: If you have taken National Geographic’s Geno 2.0 test, you can e-mail me those admixture results as well).
And of course, if you haven’t already, please look into joining the Harappa Ancestry Project. You can find myself and other interested users on Anthrogenica forums usually.
